Empowering good teachers to become good leaders by developing pedagogy and leadership strategies that will build capacity in leading learning and teaching for themselves and others
The aims of the nine day programme (one day per week) for teachers in Primary Schools are:
- To know the concepts underpinning ‘outstanding’ practice in the classroom
- To be able to model these concepts through consistently outstanding practice
- To develop a common language of learning to describe and support the promotion of good/outstanding teaching and learning within own school setting
- To support and challenge colleagues to own and develop their personal practice
- To use coaching strategies wherever possible as the preferred model of challenge and development

Comments from previous delegates:

- “It has reassured me that outstanding teaching can be achieved through incremental changes.”
- “The impact of the course will be long term.”
The programme requires the delegates to work in learning triads for planning, observation and presentation delivery. Delegates will be encouraged to define and implement their own professional development targets, adopt a coaching style in all their roles in their own school and network across the cohort during and beyond the programme.
Ideally the delegates in the learning triads will be from the same school or a cluster so delegates can support each other and work together back in school. However this is not essential and schools can send individual delegates who will be linked up with others once on the programme.
